OUTLET PORTER

Outlet porters (or kitchen hands) work in the kitchens of CHICKANO Outlet,  where food is prepared and cooked for the public. As a kitchen porter, your main duties would involve washing up, cleaning and basic food preparation.

In this job you would need to have good physical health, as you will be on your feet for most of the shift. You would also need to be good at working in a team.  Don't need any particular qualifications to work as a kitchen porter, but a good general secondary education would be useful.

Work activities

As a porter you would help to keep the kitchen running smoothly by making sure everything is clean, tidy, safe and hygienic. When a kitchen is busy, equipment such as pots and pans will need to be cleaned quickly and be ready for chefs and cooks to use again.

Your duties would include:

  • unloading deliveries of food to the kitchen

  • organising the storeroom

  • collecting and washing pots, pans, plates and cutlery

  • getting pots, pans plates and cutlery back into use as quickly as possible

  • washing and disinfecting kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls

  • making sure kitchen equipment is properly stored

  • removing and recycling waste from the kitchen

  • clearing, cleaning and arranging tables and chairs

  • keep outlet cleaning and fresh at all time

Sometime, Outlet Porters will help with basic food preparation before the kitchen opens. This is more often the responsibility of a kitchen assistant.
